We have now begun taking bookings for Hajj Badal 2021.

Hajj on behalf of your parents or grandparents – alive or deceased, or other loved ones.

Based in Madeenah (Saudi Arabia), Fatwa-Online is pleased to present this hajj badal service.

A qualified student of knowledge from the Islamic University of Madeenah or Umm al-Qura University in Makkah – who has already performed his own hajj, and intends to perform hajj again – will be appointed to perform the hajj badal (Tamattu’) on behalf of one person, as required. He will benefit from the funds he receives by allowing him to save his own money to maintain himself and his family whilst studying, in shaa.-Allaah. So your fee has a double benefit in having the hajj badal performed as well as helping a student of knowledge, in shaa.-Allaah.

Just some of the benefits of using this service

1) Very competitive price
Our price is very competitive in comparison to those of the hajj tour operators. From our research, the hajj tour operators currently offer their lowest prices from £3,500 moving up to £4,000 and beyond! – that’s anywhere from three to six times more than what we charge for our simple no-hassles service;

2) Student of knowledge
We guarantee that your hajj will be performed according to the Noble Qur.aan and the Authentic Sunnah, since we will be utilising our resources from amongst the qualified students at the Islamic University of Madeenah and Umm al-Qura University in Makkah, in shaa.-Allaah;

3) Certificate of completion
Upon the completion of the hajj badal, we shall send you a notification email simply to confirm that your hajj badal was successfully completed, in addition to emailing you a certificate testifying so, as well as a photograph of the student in shaa.-Allaah;

4) Double-edged benefit
The student of knowledge appointed to perform the hajj badal for you will benefit from the funds he receives by allowing him to save his own money to maintain himself and his family whilst studying here, in either Makkah or Madeenah, in shaa.-Allaah. So your fee has a double benefit in having the hajj badal performed as well as helping a student of knowledge, in shaa.-Allaah.

How the hajj badal service operates

1) Enter the name and gender of the person on behalf of whom you would like to book the hajj badal, then click the ‘Add to Cart‘ button.

2) Click the ‘View Cart‘ button.

3) Click the ‘Proceed to Checkout‘ button, then complete the transaction.

4) Upon confirmation the funds have cleared in our account, we will instruct the student of knowledge to embark upon the hajj badal journey, making sure to notify him of the exact name of the person on behalf of whom he is to do the hajj badal, in shaa.-Allaah;

5) Once he has completed the hajj rites, we shall send you a notification email informing you the hajj badal has been completed, in addition to emailing you a certificate testifying so, as well as a photograph of the student in shaa.-Allaah.

Some of the things you will need to consider when doing hajj badal yourself

1) Find a reliable hajj tour operator
Naturally, you would wish to feel confident that all the rites of hajj are performed according to the correct understanding of the Qur.aan and the Sunnah and free from any innovations;

2) Allocate funds
You can expect to pay the chosen hajj tour operator anywhere from £3,500 upwards. The hajj tour operators presently available offer a wide range of packages and prices that are not always affordable to many. By opting for our hassle-free service, those who cannot afford these expensive tour operators for themselves can rest assured their hajj badal will be performed by us at a very reasonable price;

3) Book time off work
This can pose a problem for many people who do not have a choice when they can take their annual leave and as a result may have to take unpaid leave. Moreover, it may prove difficult to take the sufficient amount of time off work that is required by the hajj tour operator as most groups remain in Saudi Arabia for two weeks or more, whilst the hajj rites are generally completed in 5-6 days;

4) Vaccinations
You will need to comply with the Ministry of Hajj requirement of having all the necessary vaccinations to safeguard against illness and disease during hajj, the most important vaccination being for meningitis.

Reference: al-Muntaqaa min Fataawa Shaykh Saalih al-Fowzaan – Volume 2, Page 162-163, Fatwa No.141

Shaykh Saailh ibn Fowzaan was asked: What are the actions which benefit the parents, both [when they are] alive and [when they are] dead?

The Shaykh responded: [From] the actions are honouring them during their life, and extending [all forms of] good towards them in speech and action and undertaking the responsibility for all their needs in terms of their financial needs and their dwelling and other than that, and being kind and gentle towards them, and (maintaining) good speech with them and being of service to them, as He (Ta’aala) says:

{And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents}, [soorah al-Israa., aayah 23]

As for after their death, then that which remains in [terms of] honouring them also is supplication and giving in charity on their behalf and performing the hajj and the umrah on their behalf and settling the debts they were responsible for, and maintaining the ties of the womb (kinship) which are related to them both and also honouring their friends and executing their [Islaamically] legislated will.

More Islamic legal rulings about Umrah Badal

Reference: Majmoo’ Fataawa wa Maqaalaat Mutanawwa’ah – Volume 16

Shaykh Ibn Baaz was asked: Some of the Scholars say that the Prophet (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) permitted the performing of the Hajj on behalf of the deceased, and not the ‘umrah; So is it correct [to perform] ‘umrah [on behalf of the deceased]? We are in need of knowing the evidences, so [please] benefit us [and] may Allaah reward you with good.

The Shaykh responded: It is permissible to perform the ‘umrah on behalf of another, just like the hajj – whether or not the person is deceased or frail due to old age or an illness which is not anticipated to pass. So he is allowed to perform the hajj and the ‘umrah on his behalf.

A man came to the Prophet (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and said: O Messenger of Allaah, indeed my father is an old man, and he is unable to perform the hajj and nor undertake the journey, so should I perform the hajj and ‘umrah on his behalf? He said:

«Perform Hajj and ‘Umrah on behalf of your father» – [transmitted by Imaam Ahmad from the hadeeth of Abu Ruzayn al-‘Uqaylee No.15751, and an-Nasaa.ee No.2621].

So there is no harm in performing the hajj [and umrah] on his behalf.

Reference: Majmoo’ Fataawa ash-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen – Volume 22, Pages 205-206

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen was asked: Some people think that if a person does one of the actions that are forbidden in ihraam, that he has to offer a sacrifice, or fast for three days, or feed six poor persons, and that can choose whichever of these three he wants.

The Shaykh Responded: It is haraam for the pilgrim who is in ihraam for Hajj or ‘Umrah to shave his hair, cut his nails or cover his head with something that is attached to the head, to wear stitched clothes (for men), to wear the face-veil and gloves (for women), to wear perfume on the body or clothes, to hunt game, to enter into a marriage contract, and to have intercourse or engage in foreplay.

If the pilgrim in ihraam does any of these forbidden things, then one of the following scenarios must apply:

1) He did it because he forgot, or was unaware of the ruling, or he was forced to do it, or he was asleep – in which case he does not have to do anything (i.e., offer any fidyah)

2) He did it deliberately, but with an excuse that made it permissible to do something that is ordinarily forbidden, in which case there is no sin on him but he has to offer the fidyah for doing that. We will explain this in more detail below.

3) He did it deliberately with no excuse, in which case he has sinned and must offer a fidyah, of which there are three types:

(a) That for which there is no fidyah, which is entering into a marriage contract.

(b) That for which the fidyah is to sacrifice a camel, which is having intercourse before the first stage of exiting ihraam.

(c) That for which the fidyah is to fast for three days, which may be done consecutively or separately, as he chooses; or to sacrifice a sheep of a type that is acceptable for sacrifice, or one-seventh of a camel or cow instead, and to distribute its meat among the poor and not eat any of it himself; or to feed six poor persons, giving each one half a saa’[1] of staple food. He is given the choice between these three options if he removes any hair or nails, puts on perfume, touches a woman with desire (but without having intercourse), if a woman puts on gloves or a face-veil, or if a male puts on stitched clothes or covers his head.

4) That for which the fidyah is to offer something equivalent, namely hunting game. If the game hunted has an equivalent, then he is given the choice of three options:

(i) slaughtering the equivalent and distributing its meat to the poor

(ii) finding out its value and giving food of an equal value to be given to the poor, giving each poor person half a saa’

(iii) Fasting instead, one day for each poor person

If there is nothing equivalent to the game that was hunted, then he is given the choice between two things:

(i) finding out the value of the game that was killed and giving the equivalent in food to the poor, giving each poor person half a saa’

(ii) Fasting instead, one day for each poor person.

Footnote:
[1] One Saa` is equal to four (4) Mudd, and one (1) Mudd is equal to the amount held by cupping the two hands together. It is a measure by volume not by weight.
